Why Stop Now is a dramedy about a young pianist on the day of a big piano recital who also has to check his junkie mom into rehab. Things go awry.
Jesse Eisenberg plays Eli, a talented pianist who also happens to have a hardcore drug addict for a mom. He tries to check her into rehab before a recital to get him into Julliard. She isn’t allowed into rehab because she does not currently have drugs in her system and is therefore not at a great enough need for rehab or something like that, so Eli has to score some drugs for his mom to get her into rehab. He has to give her drugs to get her off of drugs. Yeah.
So Eli goes to a drug dealer to get drugs, is taken hostage and goes on one hell of an adventure throughout the day.
Why Stop Now
Phil Dorling and Ron Nyswaner co-wrote and co-directed Why Stop Now, and while Dorling has almost no real background, Nyswaner wrote Philadelphia once upon a time, so he has a degree of talent.

What’s Good About It?
The trailer for Why Stop Now is pretty good, and gives you a nice idea of the tone and style of the film. It looks better than I would have thought, though it’s a very Jesse Eisenberg type of film, with his particular brand of humor, which is both good and bad.
What’s Bad About It?
Though I think he’s talented, I’m tiring of Jesse Eisenberg. He needs to develop a bit more in terms of humor. He can do serious stuff and comedy, but the humor needs more depth.
And he should become an action star!
Our Clever Prediction
I don’t see Why Stop Now doing huge numbers, but I do think Tracy Morgan will win an Oscar, getting one stop closer to his goal of an EGOT.
