The Trouble with the Curve is a drama about an older baseball scout and his daughter going on a last recruiting trip.
The father and daughter in the film don’t get along terribly well, but they’re still family so they can’t seem to get rid of one another. The daughter is now a lawyer, but she grew up with her dad after her mom died, so she knows a fair amount about baseball. She wants to get on with her own life, but at the same time she understands her dad is getting pretty old and might not be around much longer, so she feels some responsibility to help him out.
The father has failing eyesight and can hardly see the players play anymore. He takes his daughter on his recruiting trip to be his eyes. He taught her how to see the game, and he needs her eyes now.
FOR HE WILL EAT HER EYES.
Sorry. Ahem. It could happen though.
Oh, and Justin Timberlake acts douchey like normal.
The Trouble with the Curve
The Trouble with the Curve comes from director Robert Lorenz, who has worked with Clint Eastwood on most of his recent films as either an assistant director or producer. This explains why Eastwood would act in a film after he said he was retired. The screenplay is by Randy Brown, and it’s his first movie.

What’s Good About It?
The cast for The Trouble with the Curve is outstanding. Amy Adams and Clint Eastwood are both pretty much as good as it gets, and the story looks solid. It’s like Moneyball but with older actors.
Sorta.
OR, it’s like The Scout. That movie was great.
What’s Bad About It?
Justin Timberlake.
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE.
Our Clever Prediction
I have little doubt The Trouble with the Curve will do decent at the box office but better with the critics. I’m betting that Clint Eastwood will get an Oscar Nomination, and maybe even a win, out of it. I’m not saying this will be his best performance, but he’s old and this may end up being the Academy’s last chance to give him an award.
