The Great Gatsby (2013) Remake of the Classic Gatsby film

Dudley 'Booger' Dawson August 8, 2012 19

The Great Gatsby(3D) is a movie based on the 1925 novel of the same name, it isn’t a new extra value meal at McDonalds, sorry America. The story is deep, passionate and wonderful, sort of like how the average obese American feels about fast food and spandex. (C’mon, its true…. I’ve seen your fascination with both first hand)

The Great Gatsby 2013

An adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Long Island-set novel, where Midwesterner Nick Carraway is lured into the lavish world of his neighbor, Jay Gatsby. Soon enough, however, Carraway will see through the cracks of Gatsby’s nouveau riche existence, where obsession, madness, and tragedy await. We have been covering this movie for 2 years now, I can’t wait till it’s finally here.. it gets tiring posting updates on it.

Breaking Gatsby News!
- The Great Gatsby is going to be in 3-D for some reason… you can’t make this stuff up, I’m dead serious.
- Tobey Maguire reportedly will play narrator Nick Carraway
- Carey Mulligan will be Daisy Buchanan

Who’s It For?

Fans of Scott Fitzgerald will, of course, want to see the new Great Gatsby Movie, since it hasn’t been made since 1974. The original movie starred Robert Redford. It’s a legendary novel still read in schools today, by the kids who are stupid and tainted by pop culture and stories with shitty plots. Yes, I’m talking to the Twilight fans here.

The Great Gatsby Trailer

Here’s the Great Gatsby Trailer from 1974 starring Robert Redford.

Movie Release Date

May 10, 2013.

Who’s In It?

Leonardo DiCaprio has signed on, a great choice one would think. Carey Mulligan will play Daisy Buchanan, she beat out : Amanda Seyfried, Rebecca Hall, Keira Knightley, Blake Lively, Abbie Cornish, Michelle Williams, Natalie Portman, Eva Green, Anne Hathaway, ‘Olivia Wilde’ , Jessica Alba and Scarlett Johansson for the role of Daisy. Not bad, eh?

As reported above, it looks like Tobey Maguire will narrate the movie.

What’s Good About It?

DiCaprio always nails this time period perfectly, and its a fantastic topic for a movie. Its almost impossible to consider America had a ban on Alcohol, considering what a nation of whores and value depleted rednecks it has evolved into.

All kidding aside (laugh with me America) the story means as much today, as it did in the mid 1920′s. A nation bordering on very hard economic time, struggles with social and personal values? Ring a bell? Can you pull away from ‘Reality TV’ for a moment and invest  some time into a moving story for a change? When was the last time you read a book?

What’s Bad About It?

One fears that the movie will not do the novel The Great Gatsby justice. 3D? Really? Why? It was just announced the remake will be in 3D!

Our Clever Prediction

The Great Gatsby will deliver the goods, we promise.. and DiCaprio will overact his way into Oscar nomination. We do all agree he is an overacts, don’t we?

excited about the movie, with the exception of it being in 3D.. not a huge fan of 3D movies.

I honestly love the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio was cast for the part but I probably would have cast Keira Knightley for Daisy!

Ummm…this is not the first Great Gatsby movie to have been made since the 1974. There was one made in 2000, it starred Paul Rudd as Nick Carraway and a bunch of other people that I don’t know.

I was just thinking the other day.. why have they not made a new gatsby movie?…and then today i found out about this…im totally excited… its going to be a long wait tho. a year from now till it opens. I think dicaprio is perfect for the movie…if all goes well, I would not be surprised if this is considered one of the best movies of our generation.

I’m quite exited about this. It’s an amazing story, the 3D does seem abit pointless though. I have to say I don’t think DiCaprio is right for the part of Gatsby, i’m not sure why, I just never imagened him that way.
