The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

Updates for the new Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises! It has officially been about 2 years now since the release, and huge success, of The Dark Knight.  During that 2 year time span, the internet has been buzzing with rumors and speculations about the third Batman.  Finally, writer/director Christopher Noland has released some interesting tidbits.

The Dark Knight Rises

The most telling of these tidbits from the famed writer/director is that the film will be called The Dark Knight Rises.  This is a suitable name as where we left off in the recent Batman films Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight, Batman has become something of an outsider operating on the fringes of society in order to protect the good name of Harvey Dent.  It seems that it is in this upcoming film that Batman will return to the spotlight of society where he belongs as the protector of Gotham City.

The other notable news released by Christopher Nolan, who is keeping his lips sealed extra tight this time around, is the addition of Tom Hardy to the already fantastic cast.  Despite rumors floating around the Internet, no one yet knows what role he will play, but it is suspected he will be the main villain of the film.  All we know for sure is that according to Nolan, he is not the Riddler.  (Thank god!)  I’m still hoping for  Killer Crock, but that probably wont happen :(

More recent news is the appearance of a short list of actress to fill the roles of two female roles.  The actress are Anne Hathaway, Keira Knightley, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz.  Both are to play Bruce Wayne’s romantic interest and that of a female villain.  With only a short list of female villains, the most likely is Cat Woman, a villain who has plagued Batman since the earliest Batman comics.  Talia Al Ghul would be a cool inclusion from the events of Batman begins, and Harley Quinn would also be an interesting choice after the events with the Joker in The Dark Knight.  But of course, none of this is actually confirmed.

What’s Good About It?

Hey, its Batman.. it’s all good.

What’s Bad About It?

Christian Bale’s stupid Batman voice. Why do they make Batman speak with such a stupid voice?

Our Clever Prediction

Dark Knight Rises will probably the best movie ever made . . . Ok, well it will be great will Nolan’s track record with movies.  I wouldn’t be surprised if the villain is in response to one of the two earlier films.  Harley Quinn would be cool, but Ra’s al Ghul’s daughter, Talia Al Ghul, would be Christopher Nolan’s style.

If they don’t use Matches Malone as a way for Batman to get intel(since Gotham PD is now hus enemy) I will be upset.

shame, i was hopeing the riddler would have been in the new film. with the silly performance jim cerrey made i thought they would have seriosuly epicly made him up like with the other villians. the fatc that bane is in the film slughtly confuses me, since i know him as poison ivy’s lacky. having catwoman in the film would be a terrible idea in my opinion, her status as a villian was always a bit hazy and the riddler would be immencly more popular as a batman villian for this film. much more so then bane and catwoman (random picks in my opinion)

Looking forward to this next addition to the series. Let’s hope no-one tries to re-hash or out-do Heath Ledger’s Joker for a few decades at least. (People were probably saying the same about Jack Nicholas’ performance too….)

Perhaps they need a more main-stream villan in this reboot? Boris the Drug Dealer maybe?

i hope they put the gentleman ghost in the followup to darkknight they have been using the riddler and too many of the main villians they need to give mad hatter and some of the lesser known batman villians a chance the spook would also be good thanks jon macvean
