The Babymakers (2012)

The Babymakers is a ‘Comedy’ about a couple who are struggling to have a baby, and when the guy’s sperm count is low, he breaks into a sperm bank to steal back sperm he donated years before.

I put the word ‘Comedy’ in quotes above because The Babymakers is directed by Jay Chandrasekhar and stars Olivia Munn. I can’t tell you how far the corners of my mouth are drooping right now, but it’s a lot. And it’s a lot because I’m not laughing. Argh.

To explain the plot a bit more, the main character is trying to get his wife pregnant, but due to his age or some such stuff, he can no longer get his little guys to do their job. Years before he was a sperm donor, and some of his sperm is still being held by the sperm bank, so he’s going to get back that good sperm to get his wife all preggers. Craziness occurs. Humor… does not ensue.

The Babymakers

The Babymakers is, as stated above, being directed by Jay Chandrasekhar, who made the Super Troopers, and all the others by that comedy group. I’ll give him credit for a few episodes of Arrested Development, which is the greatest show ever, but TV shows are easier, and he didn’t have as much room to screw it up.

The Babymakers Release Date

August 2012

Who’s In It?

Olivia Munn, Paul Schneider, Jay Chandrasekhar

What’s Good About It?

The phrase “Cum Diamond” in the trailer was pretty good, and I really like Paul Schneider.  We get to see Olivia Munn in her underwear and in a bikini, so I suppose that’s a good thing.

What’s Bad About It?

Olivia Munn is attactive, but not funny. The movie looks, overall, like a turd. And I don’t like to think about getting a girl pregnant. That would be a horrible circumstance to having sex. Horrible.

Our Clever Prediction

I doubt The Babymakers is going to make much money, and while I think it cost little to make, hopefully no one, outside of Paul Schneider, will ever get work again. And maybe Schneider will go back to Parks and Recreation. I liked him on the show. I miss him. I WANT HIM BACK.
