R.I.P.D. is about a recently deceased cop who becomes a member of an undead police force. It’s based on the comic of the same name.
Nick Cruz is a cop who gets himself murdered. After joining the R.I.P.D. Force, he goes about trying to find the person who killed him while also doing his duty of bringing in those who have died but refuse to go quietly. Essentially he’s an undead Ghostbuster.
Cool.
R.I.P.D.
Peter M. Lenkov’s comics aren’t half bad, and it’s a decent idea for a movie. The comic was adapted for the screen by Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay, and the film is being directed by Robert Schwentke, who recently helmed the adaptation of RED and The Time Traveler’s Wife. Not bad. Not great either, but not bad.

What’s Good About It?
I like movies about the undead, and I think R.I.P.D. Is going to have a cool blend of comedy, action and maybe a bit of horror. Kinda like Hellboy. Which is a good thing.
What’s Bad About It?
After Green Lantern I don’t trust Ryan Reynolds at all. After Schwentke’s RED I don’t fully trust him either. He’s a bit by the books for me.
Our Clever Prediction
I’m hopeful for R.I.P.D. It’s a cool idea, and while it’s a bit common, with a good script and solid acting it could be a fun film. Until I get a trailer I’m going to say it’ll be good.
