Promised Land is a new drama starring Matt Damon and John Krasinski as two men on opposite sides of an oil company’s desire to drill in a small town.
Damon plays Steve Butler, and his job is to get small town folks to agree to allowing his oil company to drill on their land. If the oil company finds oil, the landowner will be rich and the oil company will make a ton of money. Unfortunately, on occasion the drilling process can ruin a farm. The environmental impact can be extreme, and after one local farmer’s land is ruined, a battle for the heart of this town commences.
Go BIG OIL!!
Promised Land
Promised Land reunites Matt Damon with his Good Will Hunting director Gus Van Sant, and Damon yet again helped write the screenplay. I think the twist will be that he’s a genius and a janitor. How cool would that be?

What’s Good About It?
There’s a heck of a lot of talent in Promised Land. Damon can really pull off this type of role, and Krasinski is a perfect fit for a guy who’s angry/kinda a jerk but justifiably so, and Van Sant is a talented director.
What’s Bad About It?
I worry that Promised Land will have more of a statement and less of a good story/good characters. It’s not enough to just shout your politics. I need entertainment!
Our Clever Prediction
Promised Land doesn’t look like a huge commercial film, but it is going to come out just in time for the end of the year, meaning at the last moment for award season. I could see it receiving some award love. There’s enough talent to make it happen.
Thanks Fucker! (That’s just for you, Booger)
