Piranha 3DD is a  sequel to Piranha from back in 2010? Yes! Why? Because the first one grossed over 80 million at the box office. Do you like jugs? I don’t mean of water or milk. Well, sorta of milk. I mean boobs. Then you’ll love Piranha 3DD. Yep, it’s a sequel to the best 3D piranha movie ever, Piranha 3D. Expect more over the top crazy action, horror, and boobs. Lots of boobs.

When your filmmaking sensibilities include, “Hey, let’s make a boob joke. IN THE TITLE” you know the film is going to be essentially Schindler’s List. Through in Ving Rhames, Katrina Bowden (super hot Cerie from 30 Rock) and Christopher (DOC!) Lloyd, and the film is essentially already finished. Who even needs a script?

Basically the story is about how some piranhas mutate and start killing lots of good looking, bikini clad people. And there are usually some porn stars around. Just cause.

Danielle Panabaker

Danielle Panabaker is in the new Pirhana movie, she’s obviously stunning but its odd Panabaker is sticking to horror movies so often these days. She’s attractive, a wonderful actress and capable of much more than these type of films. John Gulager, who got his start winning Project Greenlight Season 3, has made some great campy, over the top horror, especially with his Feast series. He hasn’t quite broken through yet, and may never, as this level of over the top horror comedy doesn’t always play well, but his movies aren’t half bad. Just add boobies, shake, and you’ll have a great martini.

Katrina Bowden in Piranha 3DD

Katrina Bowden is also in Piranha 3DD, giving the female leads in this movie a nice mix of beauty and brains. Bowden and Panabaker will make Piranha 3DD watchable, even if the plot sucks worse than the first one. Recently, Katrina Bowden was in Tucker and Dale vs Evil , and she plays these horror movie spoofs pretty well. Also of note – Elizabeth Shue is out of the sequel, but Ving Rhames is back…. and pissed off! Rhames plays the role of the wounded Deputy Fallon, who previously dealt with the evil Piranhas in the 2010 movie. Fallon apparently has a personal score to settle with the Piranha this time around, and even has a shotgun fitted to his prosthetic leg.

David Hasselhoff is in the movie, as himself. His career has developed into roles where he mocks his second most popular role, the lifeguard. Expect a ton of references to Baywatch in the movie, including the bouncing boobie scenes.

It also appears that Gary Busey is in a supporting role. The semi-crazy actor will be the comic relief… a role that seems perfect for Mr Busey at this point in his career.

What’s Good About It?

Granted, Piranha 3DD is the lowest level of ‘art,’ but it’s also supposed to be stupid and fun. I look forward to seeing massive tits, people getting eaten alive, and other such insanity.

What’s Bad About It?

It’s a 3D film about boobs and killer fish. Remember the chopped off penis that floats to the bottom of the lake in the Piranha 3D movie? I have heard the penis makes a return.

I feel like Piranha 3DD will probably underperform, but it will also likely be stupid fun, so I’m cool with it.
