Paranorman answers the question we’ve all asked a few times, “What if the Sixth Sense was a children’s animated film about a kid who sees ghosts and has to save the world?” I ask that at LEAST once a week, sometimes once an hour.
So Norman is a weird kid. His parents, sister and the kids at school don’t get him. He’s a funny sort. We all knew someone like him in school. Except for me. Everyone said there was a weird kid in our class, but I never saw him. I… oh. It was me, wasn’t it?
Sheesh, wear Superman suspenders to school for ONE YEAR and suddenly I’M the weird kid. I wonder if that’s why the head of the cheerleaders wouldn’t go to prom with me… Nah. She was just intimidated by my enormous penis.
Anyways, Norman has one buddy, but most of his friends are DEAD. Cause he can see dead people. And at some point he will be called upon to save the world from evil forces using his supernatural gifts.
And because this is a kid’s film, it’ll probably have some message about girls NOT liking boys because of enormous junk.
Paranorman
Chris Butler wrote and directed Paranorman. This is his first film as writer/director, but he was a storyboard artist for both Coraline and Corpse Bride, so he knows his animation.

What’s Good About It?
The trailer looks decent, I liked Coraline and Corpse Bride, and it’s a kid’s version of The Sixth Sense. I hope the twist is that he CAN’T see dead people. He sees living people, then murders them savagely. We really need more kid’s movies that scar.
What’s Bad About It?
I didn’t really laugh at the trailer, and it didn’t move me. It didn’t MOVE ME!!!!!!! And life is about moving ME.
Plus, it isn’t Pixar. It might as well be a turd full of shit.
Our Clever Prediction
Paranorman looks nice, comes out in August, which should help, and kid’s are a funny lot. I think it’ll do well.
