In this 2012 Movie, the highly successful video game is developed into a movie. The Mass Effect movie will have a few hurdles to cover once it is a movie, namely.. who will play the lead character?
Who’s going to be Commander Shepard? How can they tie up such a huge storyline into a little movie? Lets dig into the Mass Effect movie a little further.
The Scoop
Legendary pictures is readying a Mass Effect film, featuring Shepard and the SSV Normandy crew, the story of a futuristic soldier and his fight to save mankind. .
Who’s It For?
Mass Effect will have at least a PG13 rating, and will be for teens onward.
Movie Release Date
Summer 2010 is the expected release date for Mass Effect, the movie.
Who’s In It?
Nobody has been confirmed yet, we hear rumors of Matthew Fox and even Chris Hemsworth …. Look for the lead roles to goto associates of Protosevich.
What’s Good About It?
Mark Protosevich, of Thor and I Am Legend, is the screenwriter. I wasn’t a huge fan of I Am Legend, but his dark approach to movie stories is one which always gets my attention. Mass Effect has to be a dark story, I can’t think of much better men to hire than Protosevich.
What’s Bad About It?
One of the biggest problems with a Mass Effect movie, is that Mass Effect is too huge for a single movie. Let’s hope they don’t try and squish all these story-lines that made the game so good, into an hour and a half.
Also, we know how well movies based on video games have turned out the last 20 years. (Tron not withstanding)
Our Clever Prediction
Obviously the Mass Effect movie will be huge, we can’t wait for more updates on this 2012 release!

I would love to see Sam Worthington as Shepheard or maybe even Christian Bale..
i cant wait to see this movie the games are the best new game comin out soon
should make dewayne johnson as commander shepard
Hire Ben Browder ( Star Gate SG1 – Colonel Mitchell) as Sheppard.
Not only will get an excellent actor but your audience will expand beyond teens to include woman of all ages.
I would watch this film for the shear disappointment it’d bring…
Mass effect in it’s own right is already a film, well, an interactive story telling experiance. It doesn’t need a movie.
