Magic Mike is, seriously, a movie half based on the real life of Channing Tatum, who stars as the titular character. Basically, he teaches a young dancer how to be a stripper.
Yep. Channing Tatum was a stripper, once upon a time. And he’s making a comedy about being the mentor of a young stripper.
I’m gonna go ahead and blame Canada for this one. Just on principle.
Since Steven Soderbergh is apparently not keeping himself busy enough with the forty other movies he has coming out in the near future, he’s also making this shit fest. The screenplay was written by Reid Carolin. This is Reid’s first screenplay, so I have no doubt it’ll be fantastic.

What’s Good About It?
At least as long as Tatum is making turds like this he can’t ruin decent films. Right? Well, this and GI Joe.
I’ll admit that Soderbergh is at least interesting with his directing choices as of late.
What’s Bad About It?
First, it stars Channing Tatum. Strike one.
It’s a movie about strippers. Dude strippers. Strike two.
Uh… did I mention that Channing Tatum is worth two strikes?
That’s it, you’re out.
Our Clever Prediction
I won’t be clever. I’ll just say that Magic Mike won’t find any ‘magic’ at the box office.
Damn it. That was sorta clever.
