Looper is a futuristic science fiction thriller set in a world where time travel has been perfected. The government sends assassins back in time to eliminate dangerous criminals.
Looper stars Bruce Willis, who will play a mob hit man who looks into the future and discovers one of his upcoming hits will be himself. Dramatic music plays, and craziness ensues. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Emily Blunt also star. Not a lot else is known about the plot at present, and the film just started shooting a few weeks ago, so it will be a while before we see a trailer.
Looper is written and directed by Rian Johnson, whose first name would be better if it had a “B” at the beginning. Think about it. Johnson previously worked with Gordon-Levitt on Brick, although his last film was the underrated, but still not great The Brothers Bloom.
No rating yet, but likely either PG-13 or R.
‘Looper’ hits theaters September 28, 2012.
Bruce Willis … Older Joe
Joseph Gordon-Levitt … Joe
Emily Blunt … Sara
Paul Dano … Seth
Adam Boyer … Tye
Frank Brennan … Old Seth
Brick, The Brothers Bloom
Bruce Willis is relatively solid in his film choices. Sure, he makes bad movies here and there, but even his bad films tend to be better than most other films out there. Put it this way: Bruce Willis’s bad films are better than Ashton Kutcher’s good films
Looper could end up being pretty similar to Surrogates. Which wasn’t good.
Decent box office. Willis has drawing power and Gordon-Levitt is developing some of his own. Emily Blunt is pretty enough and capable of holding her own. I doubt it’ll break any records, but it should be decent enough.
