For a Good Time Call… is a comedy about two broke girls in New York who start a phone sex hotline out of their apartment.
Katie and Lauren don’t get along. Katie is a party girl with essentially no morals, and Lauren is an uptight Jewish chick without a job. For financial reasons, and because they share a gay best friend, they end up living together.
Shortly after moving in, Lauren finds out Katie makes money through phone sex. They go into business together, with Lauren running the business side of things while Katie does the dirty talk. Needless to say, at some point Lauren stops being a prude, gets on the phone, and they have some fun saying disgusting things to Canadians for 60 cents a minute.
For a Good Time Call…
Jamie Travis is the director of For a Good Time Call… and Lauren Miller and Katie Anne Taylor cowrote the screenplay. Lauren Miller plays the Lauren in the film, and I get the impression that at least on some level they’ve based their characters on themselves. I assume they didn’t run a sex hotline, but one never knows. Does one?

What’s Good About It?
Admittedly, the idea is funny enough, and the trailer is pretty good, though…
What’s Bad About It?
I wonder if two complete unknowns can really carry a film like this. When Seth Rogen shows up for a minute it becomes entirely clear that neither of the leads are really on the same level.
Our Clever Prediction
I don’t see For a Good Time Call… doing a ton of business, but it might be a surprise hit just waiting to happen. Emphasis on ‘might be.’
