The next Batman project set to release in 2012 will continue the story of The Dark Knight, although details at present are scarce. We now know the official name of the movie though : The Dark Knight Rises. The movie continues along a darker storyline than we are used to from the previous Batman movies, and carries on from the Dark Knight. Dent is dead, Batman is a mess… and of course there is a love interest or two along the way. Batwoman? You bet. Kane? Yes, the eternal enemy for Batman makes his first appearance in the Batman franchise.
Three trailers and ‘behind the scenes’ footage for you for The Dark Knight. Check out the Bat Plane… lol
Rumors abound. From the day The Dark Knight came out, rumors started about the villians and casting choices for the next Batman film. The most common rumor at present is that the villain will be The Riddler, and some are saying that Inception’s Joseph Gordon Levitt will be playing the part, although Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy are also reportedly up for roles in the film. Christian Bale is expected to return, as is Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman, but no other details are presently known.
Director Christopher Nolan has decided on a story with David Goyer, and his brother Jonathan Nolan have written this screenplay. What we now know is Bane, who is played by Tom Hardy is the main villain in The Dark Knight Rises. Bane is virtually unstoppable and in the comic books broke Batman’s back. How will this play into the movie, and will they demonstrate the history of Bane and Batman? Time will tell. Bane has superhuman strength if he drinks a potion called ‘Venom’ and is highly intelligent. He is one of the few people who know Batman’s real identity.
The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20, 2012.
Christian Bale … Bruce Wayne
Michael Caine … Alfred
Eric Roberts … Salvatore Maroni

Eddie Murphy was in talks to play The Riddler two years ago. The ditched this idea quickly.
The first two Batman films that Nolan made are the best representations of the character ever put on film. Nolan seems to improve with each outing, as Inception rocked big time. No doubt he’ll make something awesome for The Dark Knight’s followup.
The third film in a series is often the worst. It could be that Nolan has run out of ideas for Batman.
Big box office, good critical reviews. I’m hoping the film actually goes smaller and more intimate. I want to see the detective side of Batman more than the gadgets and butt kicking. The addition of Bane to the movie is a good one, he’s a bastard of a villain that should rival The Joker’s role in The Dark Knight. Lets hope they pay respect to the history of the Bane, and just how powerful his character is in the movies. The Dark Knight Rises will be enormous, no doubt.
