Alien ‘Prometheus’ (2012)

Alien Prometheus is the newest Alien movie (duh) , and it looks to bring this franchise to a respectable form. The series took a shit when they allowed Alien VS Predator to happen, and made a mockery out of this once powerful idea.

Alien 2012

This new ‘Alien’ movie is no longer a prequel as planned, it will be an entirely new story after Fox Studios has ditched the idea set forth by Scott. Noomi Rapace is still set to star as the main character. The film is a retelling of the years before Ridley and the crew were shitting bricks and running from the original Alien. We learn more about what the Aliens are about, why we were out in space to begin with and more.

Prometheus ties up a lot of loose ends for fans of the original Alien series.

From Ridley Scott :

While Alien was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place,” said Scott in a statement. “The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien’s DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative. I couldn’t be more pleased to have found the singular tale I’d been searching for, and finally return to this genre that’s so close to my heart.”

The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.

White Trash Summary

In Alien Prometheus, mankind went looking for answers to our own history, and that’s when shit gets real.

The Good

That there is an ounce of faith Ridley Scott can make anything decent out of a depleted franchise. Our bet? He makes this into a 3-D movie, giving it a new twist. Update! Confirmed! Scott has confirmed the new Prometheus movie will be in 3D.

The Bad

The death of possible one of my favorite Sci-fi films as a child… however, I doubt Ridley Scott will take that many chances with the rebirth of his movie… right?

The Verdict

We still have faith in Scott, and feel getting rid of the prequel was a good idea, but what do you think?

If they want to do another Alien fim they should go to where the Aliens originated at. I would say the humans created them from the start and show what kind of species they took from their DNA. Put them on a planet to see how they would live for so long. Go back to the planet and the ship crashes and you have people trying to survive. You can add Predators there just retrieving some of the Aliens to take to there planet in the mix for sport. And maybe the Marines too. If it sounds cool spread the word to make it happen. Now that would be a good prequel before Alien.

I’m a big fan of the first film, it broke so much ground and left us with many unanswered questions. We were thrown into a totally alien and visceral world way out of the human comfort zone.

If the new film is to work (for me) then it needs to do that again, the batch of follow-up alien films diluted the franchise, demystified the alien and took away some of its menace, they turned it into another monster when it’s really so much more – you can know too much and I’m hoping that Ridley Scott recognises this.

I want to leave the theatre with my head buzzing, not about what I have seen, but about the universe it exists in.

Right cerebral brain dump finished…I’m going to have a lay down!

they have left this to long. given us second rate imatations (the avp’s) they should have made the colonial marines alien homeworld story years ago.

You have to really like…love… the Alien movies to even get the reasons why this is exciting. If you never cared for them in the first place why comment at all? Pointless… I think Anne Hathaway would be the dumbest mistake here to be made by Scott. Come on! Anyway, I’m a devoted fan. I’ll be waiting to see what Scott comes up with!
