Thor Movie Preview and Trailer

Dudley 'Booger' Dawson March 30, 2011 15

Fans of the Norse superhero Thor will get their moment to cheer when the Thor Movie hits theaters in May . The Thor movie is taking some huge chances here by casting a rather unknown commodity in Chris Hemsworth as the lead Nordic Superhero. Since the movie is right around the corner, I’m bumping our Thor preview again since we have been covering Thor for almost two years.

My questions about Hemsworth as Thor, is how will they portray him? Thor was a monster of a man, bulging with muscles and testosterone. Hemsworth goes about 6’3, 180lbs… not the portrayal of Thor I was hoping for. Not that we needed a muscle bound freak here, but how will they bulk him up for this role, or will they pretend Thor was never very big? This movie, the plot etc really confuses me. I just watched the trailer for Thor, and I have one question : Since when is Thor a spoiled brat that Odin has to throw out of Asgard?! He always championed his father and upheld his laws, Loki was the one who always disobeyed. I call BS on this, Thor is going to suck.

Thor – The Plot

Partially disabled medical student Dr. Donald Blake discovers his heretofore unknown alter ego, the Norse warrior, Thor.

This epic adventure spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Why you care

While Thor may not be the most exciting comic book character for a movie, we look forward to a big Nordic man swinging a hammer. No homo.

The Good

Movies based on comic books normally excite us, and Stan Lee is behind the script.

The Bad

Chris Hemsworth as Thor? Really? Shouldn’t you have someone like The Rock, Chris Jericho or Tripple H? I mean, why not give the lead role to a big guy, someone who looks like Thor? As I mentioned above, they have made Thor out to be a pain in the ass, something he never ever was in the comics.

Our Clever Prediction

The nerds will flock to Thor, but will it be enough?

I agree if you are going to make a movie especially based on the Marvel heroes you have to make sure the characters are believable,
the fact being Marvel has many fans that have read there comics over all these years that know every detail if you are going to bring it to life make it real you have the money and resources to do it now
if the movie is half baked then it will not be believable,
We have all seen the pictures for the Thor movie i am a little disappointed that you have not taken the dream Stan lee brought to the fans if you cut corners fans will not except it. Just a thought

Yeah Odin in later graphic novels wore an eye patch after he had hung from the tree Yyardsgil (or spelt summat like that) in the attempt to learn ‘extra wisdom’ (!) and plucked his own eye out.

I hope they don’t ruin the opportunity to make this mythology adventure an epic and not a disaster !

OK let’s not slag off the film until we’ve seen it. I think Chris Hemsworth should be able to pull it off. As for muscles…I’ve also collected the comics and a YOUNG Thor wasn’t built like Triple H. As he got older than yes he bulked out more. Thor is a God and his power lies within, he is not something to resemble the Hulk in bulk, but his power is on par with the Hulk.

So it seems the film will start with Thor’s early life in Asgard..being a spoilt brat and eventually being sent to Earth to learn a little humility? If that is the case, why is he not wearing the costume of the earlier comics? Is it because they look a little too colourful?

What’s Anthony Hopkins wearing an eye patch for? Not looked at my collection for many years, but can’t remember Odin ever with an eye patch.

Also Heimdall played by a black actor??? I thought Heimdall was white?

I wonder what input the great Stan Lee had in this, doesn’t look like much.

The rock ? are you insane ? He is 1/2 black , why in the WORLD would you think he would be a good actor to cast as a NORSE <– God ?

Its bad enough the casting director was so arrogant or utterly ignorant (one or the other) to cast a black guy as Heimdal lol.

Vikings were not black…nor were Their gods

    its just retarded

Itd be like Casting some Japanese guy as Jesus.

I see nothing but utter disappointment for true Thor fans or anyone who has collected the comics over the years. Judging from some of the pictures, it will be another watered down Hollywood version of Norse Mythology. Donald Blake could have been a regular actor but to not have Thor as a C.G.I. character like in the incredible Hulk will probably be the movies undoing. He is a mythical character and should be of mythical proportion. Not a half juiced up Chris Hemsworth or whatever the hell his name is. Not to mention, why does every movie about Vikings or anything to do with Vikings have a half wit British actor playing the part? Couldnt they have scoured the Scandinavian countries for people who actually look the profile? This movie has stinking turd smeared all over it. What a shame. I thought Iron Man was terrific and that Marvel was finally coming of age. Will wait to see this one fail.
