No need to panic about this new Planet of The Apes movie folks, the producers have set out to right all the wrongs with the previous Mark Wahlberg pile of garbage from a few years ago.
An origin story set in present day San Francisco, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.
The 2011 version of this ‘Ape rising’ movie will try and correct the wrongs of the previous failure led by Mark Wahlberg. Director Rupert Wyatt is trying to bring the franchise back to the basics, and he is capable of doing so.
So this is really a prequel, which is sort of cool in a way because the story was a little cloudy to be honest. A scientist (played by Franco) is experimenting on a chimpanzee (named Caesar) in order to find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. Caesar gets smarter from the experiments and, the little buggers go crazy.. taking over the planet with high IQ’s and power..
You know the rest…
Rise of the Apes will be released August 5, 2011.
James Franco … Will Rodman
Andy Serkis … Caesar
Freida Pinto … Caroline
Tyler Labine … Franklin
Rick Jaffa is writing the script, which is rather interesting. He wrote The Relic, and was behind The Hand That Rocks the Cradle. Rupert Wyatt is the director, he did splendid work in The Escapist.
Tom Felton is doing the voice of Caesar. You’ll know Tom from his Harry Potter character ‘Draco’
Thankfully, Tim Burton isn’t involved with this one and he can’t destroy the story twice.
I’ve seen the telling of this story too many times. No matter how much they dress this up, I’m not sure if I can handle another remake of this series.
Reserving judgment on this one.
