Red Dawn (2011) – Remake of 1984 Red Dawn

Michael Corleone January 26, 2011 8

The new Red Dawn movie is approaching, we have some details on the remake of this 80′s classic. The delay has been huge for this movie since MGM went broke after production had started on this new Red Dawn movie.

Red Dawn 2011

In the new Red Dawn Movie, the plot remains the same, but the enemy is different now. A group of teenagers look to save their town from an invasion of North Korean soldiers. This is a remake of the original Red Dawn film from 1984 that has had a huge cult following after all these years. Just to clarify, this isn’t Red Dawn 2, but.,. a remake of the original movie with North Korea the enemy, and not Russia, or China as previously was in the script.

Update : MGM is changing the villains in Red Dawn from Chinese to North Korean in order to stay in the Chinese good books, and perform in the box office over there. Plus, China owns most of the United States assets, so why piss them off?

Red Dawn 2011 Trailer

This fan made one is as close as I got right now, but its well done and features clips from the new Red Dawn movie. Obviously the first trailer above is of the original film, but hey.. Jennifer Grey was hot. Speaking of ‘hot’ , did you know Adrianne Palicki is also the new Wonder Woman, as well as a Wolverine? Is she one of the hottest women in hollywood? Yes, she is.

Red Dawn Release Date

Fall 2011 – This remake keeps getting delayed, but we are told its still a 2011 release.

Interesting Fact

sometime I leave the bar and yell ‘WOLVERINES’ for a reaction. People from the ages of 35 and beyond, get it, the rest of you look at me like I’m an insane idiot. Jokes on you!

The Good

- The original Red Dawn was really good, not that it holds up that well today. However, the plot was really interesting at the time, sort of unique for the 80′s. Also, watching the kids transform from typical 80′s kids to military warriors was cool, at least back then.
- Adrianne Palicki – She is going to be my wife one day, and she doesn’t even know it. Why doesn’t Palicki get more roles, every movie should have a hot blonde, right?

The Bad

Remaking Red Dawn, really? Why? We just know too much about how an ‘invasion’ would be stopped, so the plot isn’t really exciting anymore. Had the new Red Dawn movie taken place in Canada, I’d believe it, but not on US soil. Maybe I’m just being picky about this Red Dawn remake.
