Midnight in Paris is Woody Allen’s latest film, about a young engaged couple traveling to Paris on a business trip, and confronted with the fact that a life different from their own may be better. The film is a romantic comedy.
Not a ton is known at present about Midnight in Paris, although the cast includes Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams, and a bunch of foreigners, so I assume that Wilson and McAdams are the American couple. The film also has Marion Cotillard, Adrien Brody, and Carla Bruni, so at the very least there’s some decent people in the film.
The Scoop
Woody Allen has been making different films as of late. I still trust him, as the films can be amazing, and he has certainly gotten some great performances, such as Penelope Cruz’s Oscar winning performance in Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Normally, I’d say that Allen making a film that’s comedic is good, but he hasn’t really been doing the same type of humor he used to do, back when he was funny, so this will probably end up being a bit too European for American audiences.

What’s Good About It?
I like Woody Allen, and a romantic comedy from him might be fun. Hopefully it doesn’t get too serious.
What’s Bad About It?
Owen Wilson shouldn’t be a representative of America. Olivia Wilde should be.
Our Clever Prediction
Low box office, but there’s always Oscar potential when Woody Allen is in the mix.
