Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is an updated version of the Hansel and Gretel fable, only now the children are 15 years older, and they taken to hunting witches. Wow, the title really says it all.

Directed by Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow), Hansel and Gretel should prove a dark and perhaps over the top, which considering the directors approach to zombies, wouldn’t be such a bad thing. The film is set to have some steam punk and gothic elements, and while it straddles both the horror and comedy genres, it is still set to be mostly a horror film.

What’s Good About It?

Wirkola proved with Dead Snow that he has a feel for horror and comedy. The concept is original, and I loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so there is definitely potential.

What’s Bad About It?

Some of the cast of Twilight? Maybe they’ll just brood at the witches. On the plus side, maybe the witches will eat the cast of Twilight.

Our Clever Prediction

Cross your fingers for good casting, the film could be great. Still, why Witch Hunter when 30 Rock already spawned the greatest idea ever with Will Ferrel in Bitch Hunter? Ya’ll bitches better watch out, I’ve got a gun!
