Green Lantern (2011)

Like it, or not, Green Lantern is coming to theaters in 2011 and Ryan Reynolds will star as Hal Jordon (Green Lantern)

The story of Hal Jordon and his role as superhero Green Lantern, coming in 2010. The “Green Lantern” was created in 1940 by writer Bill Finger and artist Martin Nodell. Hal Jordan introduced in 1959, a second-generation test pilot, is an ordinary man who was given the power ring and battery (lantern) by a dying alien named Abin Sur.

When Abin Sur’s spaceship crashed on Earth, the alien used his ring to seek out an individual to take his place as Green Lantern: someone who was “utterly honest and born without fear.”

While details of Green Lantern are still a bit unclear, we have found out quite a bit of information for the film. Producer Donald De Line has stated the film will be like Iron Man, not The Dark Knight.

“I would say the tone absolutely wants to live in that kind of a world,” De Line said. “So it’s not dark it that regard.” “Our story is the Hal Jordan origin story, but creating the character of Hal Jordan that is a real character that will resonate with the fanbase is what we need to do. You have to make him credible and somebody to care about and tell a good story, and I think if we do that, we’ll be okay.”

Apparently the movie will spend lots of time in Space. Here’s another quote from director Martin Campbell

“I don’t know what the percentage is, but there’s quite a bit in space. The initial trip up there, the training sessions he has to go through in order to become a Green Lantern. Then, of course at the end, he goes back up to Oa again. There are a couple of bits [on Earth] in between. I think there will be enough to satisfy everybody.”

Green Lantern Release Date

Summer 2011. Green Lantern has been pushed back till 2011 because of budget concerns. The rising Australian dollar has forced delays in shooting as costs have risen 25% with the dollar.

Stars of the Green Lantern Movie?

Ryan Reynalds has been confirmed as The Green lantern. Jackie Earle Haley will be Sinestro and possible Brandon Ruth as Clark Kent.
