Final Destination 5 continues the horror franchise involving teenagers discovering after they survive a near fatal accident that you can’t escape death.
Actually, you can escape death. At least, once. You know what a great ending would be? At the end, the only one left alive is shown as an old lady, who finally expires of old age, saying, “You finally got me, you son of a gun.”
And then a bus hits her.
Anyways, there aren’t a lot of details available about the next Final Destination, although it has been said that there will be a suspension bridge and an incident with someone getting laser eye surgery.
Which is why I only use old, wooden bridges, while wearing glasses. It’s just good common sense.

The Scoop
Obviously, the film will be in 3D. I have divined such information based upon director Steven Quale’s experience in the movie biz. His main directorial work has been on documentaries, but his last film was as the second unit director on Avatar, and he also worked with James Cameron on Titanic, True Lies, Terminator 2, and The Abyss. So he’ll probably be using all that wonderful 3D stuff Cameron came up with.

What’s Good About It?
The best thing about the Final Destination series is that the filmmakers recognized early on that the idea is really stupid and campy, and that they should just embrace the camp and make the films and, more specifically, the deaths really over the top.
What’s Bad About It?
It is yet another Final Destination. In 3D. I wish there was more original horror from Hollywood.
Our Clever Prediction
The last film made about $180 million worldwide, so I’m going with a similar level of success for this one. The one thing that could help is that director Steven Quale is probably understands using 3D cameras better than any filmmaker besides James Cameron, so that should help. I know Cameron came out and blasted Piranha 3D as stupid and cheapening ‘his’ use of 3D technology, but I don’t think he’ll do that with Quale’s film. It may very well end up having some of the better uses of 3D that has been seen in theaters since Avatar.
Or it will just suck. Cause it’s yet ANOTHER Final Destination.
