Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark is actually a remake of the 1970s TV movie and is produced by Guillermo del Toro. Katie Holmes is in this Horror.
This summer 2011 Horror is a story about a young girl who is sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend. One night, while having a sweet little sleep about cupcakes and sweet little ponies, she discovers creatures in her new home who want to claim her as one of their own! I know, right? Who didn’t have these kind of nightmares as a child?
In this remake, we finally get to see Katie Holmes back in action, as Tom Cruise has unchained her from the cellar for a little bit. I actually don’t mind Katie Holmes, so this role could be perfect for her. Holmes plays ‘Kim’ , the Alex’s love interest in the film, and discovers the daughter is indeed trying to be claimed by monsters in the dark.
That sort of sucks for the little girl, but thankfully she has parents that not only want to work things out with the monsters, but they are worried about their house depreciating in value, so they remain in this unholy hell until issues get resolved. BTW, rising star Bailee Madison is playing the role of Sally Hurst, the girl wanted so badly by the monsters.
This movie was supposed to have been released back in 2010 but was put on indefinite hold because of ongoing problems at the Miramax film studio. This is why we have bumped it.
Horror movie fans and people who aren’t afraid of the dark.

Guillermo del Toro stands behind his work and has delivered some pretty quality films. I trust his writing and directing, I think he’ll turn Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark into a quality product.
Sorry, these sort of movies just creep me out because I am a little bitch about these sort of things.
I’ve seen the TV series, it was frightening as hell. I saw the original show when I was just a young boy in my superman pajamas, and it pretty much scarred me for life. I think this 2011 version of the movie will be a success.
