So a Child’s Play remake is being planned for the year 2014 now. We had reported this as a 2011 release, then a 2012 release.. and now they got the legal stuff worked out. Chucky needs to be reintroduced to the next generation of children.

We can confrim Jennifer Tilly will not be in the remake, but Catherine Hicks will be back as ‘Karen’. Also, no word yet on who will play Andy Barclay.
Child’s Play (2014) will tell the story of Chucky, all over again, but leave the comedy out. No more ‘side splitting’ Chucky, but the new Child’s Play movie will be very dark and disturbing, holding true to it’s original roots. In the Child’s Play movie, serial killer Charles Lee Ray gets gunned down by the police, and transfers his soul into a doll just before he dies. Days later, Andy Barclay gets the same doll for his birthday. In order for Charles (Chucky) to transfer his soul out of the doll, he must preform a voodoo chant on the first person he told his true identity to… Andy.
Why you care
I’m not sure anyone cares for this remake, but I do. I like the ridiculousness of the Child’s Play franchise, and a more serious take on this franchise would do it some justice. Chucky’s twisted little mind, and remarks usually make for an entertaining movie, and with the new generation of CGI I think the new Chucky Doll will look pretty good.
Child’s Play Release Date
Huge delays and legal battles, have bumped the new Child’s Play Movie back to a July 2014 release. I was looking forward to this, so I suppose having to wait for a better product in 2014 is only better for us. Apparently there was a huge battle over who owned the rights to the franchise and it has been settled. The original film belonged to MGM, but Universal bought the rights to the sequels.
Who’s In It?
Rumor has it Catherine Hicks will be in this one, while Danny Trejo has also confirmed interest.. Brad Dourif will do the voice for Chucky , which fans of the series will appreciate.
What’s Good About it?
Actually, the Chucky franchise was pretty decent at one time, he’s laughable, cute and frightening all at the same time. So, with this new Child’s Play movie we expect more of the same, and we can live with that.
What’s Bad About It?
Director Don Mancini hasn’t done a thing other than the Chucky franchise.
Our Clever Prediction
The Child’s Play franchise was destroyed by ‘Bride Of Chucky’ etc.. not sure how they can get this back to its origins. Will they make it 3D? Still, its a loyal following, we won’t be shocked if its a 50 Million dollar film if released around Halloween.

I beleave this movie will happen it’ll just take some time because the franchise aint that big and two the last film kinda floped at the boxoffice it’s because every other well known horror film remade honestly may hav sold decent on video/dvd but more or less flopped at the box so seenin’ Friday , Nightmare , Texas , Halloween all preform great in theaters is a reason is consider doin this film .
This film was anouiced in 07′ its now 2010′ 3 years later so its stalled and ill’ed sey like i stated at the start of this it’ll get made just dont expect to see this until 2012 at the earlyest perhaps there thinkin about shootin in 3D doutbful but if this was movin along as planed will’ed be holdin the film in own hands on bluray by now lol
I want someone else to play Jennifer Tilly since she is getting older.Also, I want another little boy in the movie.
Whoever wrote this is a retard. Jennifer tilly is not in the ORIGINAL Child’s Play. she’s not in any Child’s Play, she’s in bride of chucky and seed of chucky which I don’t consider to be in the Child’s Play franchise. I can watch bride of chucky but seed of chucky is extremely retarded and should have never been made just like jason x and wes cravens new nightmare. Hence, Jennifer Tilly should NOT be in this remake. At least you guessed catherine hicks right. Anyways good job whoever wrote this. Now maybe you should go actually watch the movies?

childs play lost the plot after the third movie dont convert horror movies into comidy they make moke movies like scary movie for those resons
I disagree with Joseph Lucas III. Keep to the story and stop making these rediculous movies about dolls having babies. Stick to the original. That was the best out of all of them. Chucky needs to come back as the killer doll he is and not some black comedy comedian. That was really anoying. The bride of chucky was good but the seed of chucky was a total waste. I don’t know what came over the people that made that “movie”.It was like a sad joke that did not pay off.
I agree with Keith, make a “Raw” horror film and get rid of the dumb jokes. Chucky is a killing machine not some stand up comedian. Keep his diabolical laugh, that I get a kick out of. I have to say, alot of the remakes that have been coming out are just pitiful. I love horror films and what they did with my Jason, Michael, and Freddy was just wrong.

sorry i suck at spelling. but the last 3 chucky films got worse n worse. because the jokes . i hope thay make a scarry bad ass raw film .like the new nightmare n chainsaw massacre, fri. 13, all good remakes i think.cant wate to see what the new chucky looks like
i want to jennifer tilly back.. nvm she’s 50+ but she always mananage to catchure the audiences’ heart with her talented acting and endowment.

We all want Tilly back … but have you seen how she looks these days?
I want want to see Chucky’s son to come back in the movie. The story should continue from the last Chucky movie.
I believe that this remake will kick total ass. In my opinion all the other horror movie remakes were pretty damn good. They all did what they intended; retelling a classic story with updated effects and quality. The difference between this remake, or “reboot”, is that most of the original cast as well as directors and producers will be returning. No Rob Zombie here.
…only time will tell…
