Alvin and The Chipmunks : Chip-Wrecked (2011)

Update for this new Chipmunk Movie! Alvin and The Chipmunks has a new name and its called ‘: Chip-Wrecked ‘. This is, you guessed it, a third film in the half live action, half CGI series, but this time, it’s in 3D!

The sequel to a Squeakquel?

All together now, these half live action, half CGI film are hard on my eyes, somewhat corny, but I guess thats what I expect when I walk into a movie based around talking Chipmunks? Right?

The new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie appears to be based on the premise that they are stranded, hence the name ‘Chip-Wrecked’ in the title. I do know the studio wants to milk this sucker for all it’s worth, so it’ll be in 3D.

Alvin and the Chipmunks are on a cruise vacation where the boys and the Chipettes are wreaking havoc. They become ‘chipwrecked’ on a deserted island, and Dave searches for his friends while the lost Chipmunks get crazy on their new location.

The crew makes a new friend on the Cruise Liner, who proves to be more than a handful for everyone.

What’s Good About It?

Well, my kids loved the movies so far, so I guess once we just accept the target audience, the Chipmunks are ok with me.

What’s Bad About It?

There are two sides to the bad on this film. Side one: half live action. Side two: half CGI. Some like it, some hate it, you know where I stand.

I lied. There’s a third. Side Three: 3D.

Our Clever Prediction

The first made $358 Million worldwide, and the second made $442 million worldwide. Holy crap. The third may actually make over $500 million with the additional price of 3D.

My God.
