Hey kids, get ready for another M. Night Shyamalan pile of garbage in July 2010, as this time around he takes your favorite anime and tries to destroy it. That’s right, the master of movie flops, is turning The Last Airbender into a feature length movie.

The Last Airbender follows the adventures of Aang, a young successor to a long line of Avatars, who must put his childhood ways aside and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations.

The Last Airbender

Air, Water, Earth, Fire. Four nations tied by destiny when the Fire Nation launches a brutal war against the others. A century has passed with no hope in sight to change the path of this destruction.

Caught between combat and courage, Aang discovers he is the lone Avatar with the power to manipulate all four elements. Aang teams with Katara, a Waterbender, and her brother Sokka to restore balance to their war-torn world.

Interesting Fact

The film was originally titled “Avatar: the Last Airbender”, after the TV show it was based on. However, James Cameron and 20th Century Fox had already registered the film title “Avatar”, so the word was dropped from the title to avoid confusion.

The Good

Nerds and those wacky Asians get to see their cartoon fantasy world come to life.

The Bad

We have no reason to believe M. Night Shyamalan can bring anything good to this movie.

Our Clever Prediction

We aren’t falling for the hype, or the trailer for The Last Airbender. With Shymalan controlling the movie, we think the best parts are in the trailer.

However, I’m not saying The Last Airbender will be a flop. Anime lovers will probably flock to it, but I have serious doubts this will be a decent movie. Be warned.
