Here’s a film I swore they would never have the balls to remake, but once again I was wrong. The Karate Kid (2010) takes place in China this time around, and you’ll never guess who is playing the roles of Daniel Larusso Miyagi .

Yes, 2010 is the year of the remake, and so comes another one of your favorite childhood movies to be uprooted and destroyed.
It’s really odd they never changed the name to The Kung Fu Kid, as previously rumored. There is no need to call it The Karate Kid, because the film doesn’t need it all all. That being said, this time around, we will watch Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith tackle this remake of the classic movie.
Work pressures cause a single mother moves to China with her young son; in his new home, the boy embraces karate, taught to him by a master of the self-defense form.
12-year-old Dre Parker could’ve been the most popular kid in Detroit, but his mother’s latest career move has landed him in China. Dre immediately falls for his classmate Mei Ying – and the feeling is mutual – but cultural differences make such a friendship impossible.
Even worse, Dre’s feelings make an enemy of the class bully, Cheng. In the land of kung fu, Dre knows only a little karate, and Cheng puts “the karate kid” on the floor with ease. With no friends in a strange land, Dre has nowhere to turn but maintenance man Mr. Han, who is secretly a master of kung fu.
As Han teaches Dre that kung fu is not about punches and parries, but maturity and calm, Dre realizes that facing down the bullies will be the fight of his life.
Why you care
This may be the only film where you don’t have to watch Jackie Chan acting like a retard. Imagine Chan actually not putting on his ‘stupid face’ for five minutes?

Interesting Fact
I tried ‘Sweeping The Leg’ and ‘The Crane’ when I was a young lad, after watching the original Karate Kid. You see, I was only 13 when it hit theaters, and I thought ‘hey that shit could work in real life’.
I wasn’t fighting for the honor of a girl that resembled Elisabeth Shue, in fact I was defending the honor of a fat girl with braces, quite the opposite. I attempted both moves from The Karate Kid, I got my ass handed to me that day, and the fat girl called me a loser.

Not having to watch Jackie Chan as the comedic, confused Asian trying to save the world.

What he hell is wrong with the name Dre Parker? Oh I see Black people should have white names like Ashley Nicole, Kelly, Jim Bob, Tom, Dick or Harry? Please, slavery is over and we no longer have to take our slave owner’s name.
And the way some of you KK original lovers talk, you have put it above the Bible. It was just a stupid movie that has not held up. If you watch it on cable right now, you will laugh your @ss off because it is so stupid.
And maybe in another 25 years, kk 2010 will be remade. So freaking what?

1. Dre is the immediate name they give the troubled black kid in movies. Boyz N The Hood called, they wan’t their names back.
2. BTW, anythingi with Will Smith’s kid automatically blows.
3. Jackie Chan is a hack who has to disgrace a legendary film, because he is an unoriginal asshole.
4. Re-read # 3, rinse and repeat.
in the martial arts perspective, the new one is better. The old one wasn’t very good with the choreographic.

What? The original is available at any rental place. It’s available for d/l at Netflix and iTunes. Sheesh.
I would hate to think you feel this way because an African American is playing the part. Just based off what I have jhust heard it could easily be assumed. I think it will be a good movie overall.
