A Nightmare On Elm St 2010
The original “Nightmare” was written and directed by Wes Craven and released in 1984. The new project will keep the high school setting and delve deeper in the psychology of nightmares and Freddy Krueger himself.
A re-imagining of the horror icon Freddy Krueger, a serial-killer who wields a glove with four blades embedded in the fingers and kills people in their dreams, resulting in their real death in reality.
Jackie Earle Haley is the new/old Freddy Krueger , you know him as Walter Kovacs/Rorschach from Watchmen, but us older folk know him as ‘Kelly Leak’ from The Bad News Bears (1977). Kyle Gallner ( The Haunting in Connecticut ) plays lead teen, Quentin who is also Rooney Mara’s boyfriend in the film.
This time around, we learn about the death of Freddy, how he was killed, and a new round of killings by the awesome Jackie Earle Haley, instead of Robert Englund playing Krueger. I like this, I like it a lot. This franchise needed a new direction and a new lead character to play Fred Krueger.
This Nightmare on Elm Street remake is exciting, and one of the few times I won’t trash the idea of it.
I’m Sold! When Is It Out?

Reminds me of
A Nightmare on Elm Street (lol)
Interesting Fact
Did you know Johnny Depp was in the original Nightmare On Elm Street? Yeah, Depp played ‘Glen Lantz’ , a horny young teen who gets slaughtered by Freddy Kreuger.
The Good
Freddy Krueger looks terrific in this version of A Nightmare on Elm Street. Katie Cassidy is an incredible babe, and Jackie Earle Haley is going to do wonders for the role of Kreuger.
Now that modern CGI can deliver whatever special effects the director wants, it will be exciting to see how it holds up to the original ‘Nightmare’ franchise.
The Bad
Fear of having a childhood favorite ruined. I think Bay will do this remake properly, and avoid the mistakes Rob Zombie seems to constantly do when remaking classic movies. Also, I have to include Michael Bay in here as well. He has to be considered one of the most overrated directors in recent history, and I am now a bit worried he will destroy this franchise once and for all.
Am I the only one who wants to watch a horror film where people don’t act stupid and scared and simply spend two hours beating the shit out of the villains?

I have owned all the vhs’s of A nightmare on Elm street since I was a lil boy.I have upgraded through out the years to owning all the dvd’s.Fredd krueger has been my favorite movie monster since I can remember.I am still as big of a fan 2day as I was then and I must say I am completely stoked over this remake. It looks like it is going to be great.Robert Englund(yes englund not england) is as sad as I am to say this, too old to play this role. They needed some young blood to invent this horror icon. The new actor looks and sounds like he will deliver.I will be looking forward to seeing this the day it is released.Speaking as a life long fan,I think this movie will be an amazing adaption into Freddy’s true potential.I mean with all the new effects movies have now a days, the nightmares look like they will actually be scary.I always felt like the nightmares were a lil cheesy and this one looks like it’s gonna deliver.I am very excited to see it and more excited to see a new freddy

Thanks Gary, I share you passion with the original series as well.
I agree with almost everybody,The remakes on movies is getting old. See everybody goes to see them just because they liked the movie on the first row. But I guess they having trouble coming up with new movies. well have fun at the movies guys.
i PERSONNAL THINK IT SUCKS WITHOUT England, I mean he is Freddy, at least finish the Freddy Vs Jason with the obvious sequal that they left it open for then maybe change who freddy is, I’m tired of these remakes but at the same time i’m gload for them because we’ll never forget them. One good thing about this remake is nothing could have been worse then seeing the camera guys shadow in the first movie as well as Johnny Depp when he was an aweful actor.

No… he WAS Freddy. They offered him the part, and he said “No”. Obviously he wasn’t interested. Its not like he could have made Freddy much worse than he did in “Freddy’s Dead”. I mean, each sequel got dumber… and dumber… and dumber… It was like the evil snot-faced troll from Earnest Scared Stupid missed his intended cursing target and whomped the Nightmare Series right in the face.
What later directors missed about Freddy was that his laughing wasn’t intended to be like Joker laughing. It was intended like “I’m going to kill you, there is nothing you can do about it, and as pissed off as I am, I’m so thrilled about it that it makes me giggle” Later directors turned Freddy into a moronic joker with bad skin and a gloved hand. I feel the original intent of Freddy’s joking was meant to resemble something like Pennyworth- not as a penny-worth set of one liners.
If the new cast and crew make this new version of Nightmare on Elm Street half of what it looks like, its going to be one hell of a good ride! Yes, the claw is a bit different too. It looks like a single, flexing metal apparatus that Freddy wears a glove underneath, almost to protect his hand (though, if the man was burned into bacon, something tells me there aint much to protect)
I’m all for this movie and I cant wait to see what comes of it.
BTW, the remake of Friday the 13th was god Awful… as was the sequel to Halloween. But the first Halloween by Rob Zombie was much better than the original. We got to see Michael before he became the silent killer…SBD killer he was. Personally, knowing the background makes the movie so much more frightening.
I am a total Freddy junkie and I am all for a remake. I do believe this will be an awesome movie. The trailer shows its potential. I am quite disapointed that Robert Englund will not be playing the “dream boogeyman,” but I will be at the cinema, front row, to see this remake.
no robert england no remake this movie will suck with out him no good without england

I think the film will do fine without England.
I’m also thrilled that Rob Zombie is not doing this remake. I am still getting over H2.
rob zombie should remake this one and it is said that rob zombie is shooting halloween 4 3D
STOP WITH THE REMAKES, everyone knows what happends… He is a child molester everyone from the town burns him and he comes back in there childrens dreams WOW I got that from Freddy 1,2,3,4,5… After This someone should Remake Childs Play I really wanna know what kind of drugs Charles Lee Ray did and where he lived, and how he was treated growing up so I can UNDERSTAND what made him go in to a life of crime! Thank You for listening. Oh one more thing Rob Zombie stop it your ruining all my favorite HORROR MOVIES!!
ooh scary. cant wait
Dear editors of this fine website. I am deeply disapointed of the lack of updated information. Jackie Earl Haley will be portraying our favorite killer freddy, also in this film stars Roony Mara, as Nacy, Kyle Gallner as Quentin(Glen), Kellen Lutz as Jesse, Katie Cassidy as kris(Tina), clancy brown, and Connie Britton as Marge Thompson.
Other than that great site.

So true Wesley, but at least Rob Zombie isn’t remaking this one.
