Tony Stark and Pepper Potts are coming back for another adventure for Iron Man 2, in 2010. Iron Man 2 promises more action, new super friends, and old enemies from the comic book days.

Iron Man 2

Man 2 will go further into the role of SHIELD and even touch on Stark’s alcoholism. The main focus of the movie is Tony Stark going after a terrorist called The Mandarin, one of his most notorious villains in the comic books.

Terrence Howard had been replaced on “Iron Man 2″ by Don Cheadle.

Iron Man 2 Cast & Characters

So far we know that Mandarin and Black Widow are set and so are Whiplash, Hammer and Nick Fury. Iron Maiden and War Machine are also going to be in the new Iron Man movie.

Mandarin

Iron Man’s main nemesis in the comics is Manderin, a descendent of Genghis Khan who wears ten alien rings, each with their own special ability. The movie actually alludes to him. The terrorist group which captures Tony Stark at the beginning of the film is named “The Ten Rings”, a reference to the ten rings of power the Mandarin seeks in the comics.

Writer Joe Favreau has said their version of the Mandarin “allows us to incorporate the whole pantheon of villains”.

Justin Hammer

A rival of industrialist Tony Stark , multi-billionaire businessman Hammer, became a criminal financier using unethical methods.

Enemy to Iron Man, played by Sam Rockwell, he has no super powers to speak of, but is a genius.

Whiplash

Originally a female character, Whiplash is making an appearance in Iron Man 2. Played by Mickey Rourke.
Whiplash goes against Iron Man, but was known to fail and changed his name to Backlash. Will this happen in the movie? Probably.

Whiplash and Justin Hammer work as a team to defeat Iron Man in the movie.

Powers

Expert fighting skills with a whip and nunchakus.

Black Widow

Natalia Romanova is played by Scarlett Johansson in the Iron Man 2 movie. Black Widow is a character that used to be bad, but then turned to fighting crime. She dated Daredevil , so this could be a possible spin-off in the future.

Powers

The Black Widow has received a variant of the Super-Soldier Serum which has enabled her to remain in peak physical condition for the past several decades, as well as slowing her aging process to some degree.

Iron Maiden

Olivia Munn stars as Iron Maiden in Iron Man 2. Iron Maiden is the enemy of Black Widow. Could we be witnessing the sexiest super-battle in history? Olivia Munn vs Scarlett Johansson!

Keep in mind that Iron Maiden has no super powers.

Superhero Cameos

Iron Man 2 is supposedly going to feature brief appearances from Thor and Hulk and possible a couple of The Avengers. This will tie in the release of the Thor movie.. and of course.. The Avengers movie in 2010.

We know Bruce Banner is in Iron Man 2, but to what capacity we are still unsure.
