The Scoop

When Sara and Peter Campbell’s son Matt is diagnosed with cancer, they uproot their family to Connecticut for his treatment. As the family settles into their new home, Matt grows increasingly disturbed by paranormal activity that seems to inhabit and possess the house. At a loss to help her frightened family, his mother turns to an enigmatic priest who appears to rid the house of its ghosts– until the boy’s condition takes a sudden and unexplained turn for the worse and their lives are put in grave danger.

Based on a chilling true story, Lionsgate’s THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT charts one family’s terrifying, real-life encounter with the dark forces of the supernatural. When the Campbell family moves to upstate Connecticut, they soon learn that their charming Victorian home has a disturbing history: not only was the house a transformed funeral parlor where inconceivable acts occurred, but the owner’s clairvoyant son Jonah served as a demonic messenger, providing a gateway for spiritual entities to crossover.

Now unspeakable terror awaits, when Jonah, the boy who communicated with the powerful dark forces of the supernatural, returns to unleash a new kind of horror on the innocent and unsuspecting family.

This movie was a total and complete let down. I saw the documentary first awhile back and it was so freakin scary I was hooked on the “A Haunting” series. BUT….the movie starts out like the documentary and then goes into this whole other thing. I was expecting then to take the low budget Discovery channel special effects and just let us have it. But instead they COMPLETELY CHANGED THE STORY! In the documentary the boy is posessed by a really scary demon and is tormented and constantly being told to hurt is family. He then totally freaks out and goes to the hospital, the movie kinda follows that part. The family then brings in a paranormal investigative team thats just like the movie poltergeist. they are all in the living room, no one can verture out alone. One of the investigators is let to the basement and sees the demons true form and runs out of the house and vows never to set foot in there again!

The movie COMPLETELY CHANGES the story, there is no team of investigators. Instead we go into all this background crap about the house being a funeral parlor and the owners son being a psychic. They would perform seances and then trap the souls and the boy would shoot ecto plasm ect ect yadda yadda. Until the very end when we realize that the owners psychic sons spirit is actually trying to help him. Not hurt him…….WHAT!!!!ARE YOU KIDDING!!!Hes only trying to help him release all the trapped souls in the house…..WTF!!!

I was so excited to see this movie I really thought it was going to be one hell of a ride. Instead the pulled a classic hollywood move and took a great story and changed it. DON’T BE FOOLED! ITS NOTHING LIKE THE TRUE STORY!
