If you don’t already know, I love science fiction movies. Give me a plot with Zombies, mutants, the apocalypse, sexy women saving the world and I’m in. Doomsday looks so exciting becuase it offers all of the above. Did you like Mad Max? Resident Evil? Well then you’ll be excited to read about Doomsday.

Doomsday is Mad Max on steroids, ts Resident Evil with bigger effects. Great Britain, 2007. A deadly plague, known as the “Reaper Virus,” has broken out, killing hundreds of thousands in its wake. In desperation, the British Government evacuates as many survivors as it can out of the infected area, and then builds a wall, preventing the remainder from escaping.
Thirty years later, with the wall still up and the victims all but forgotten, the virus breaks out again.
The Government decides to send a crack team of operatives, led by Major Eden Sinclair {Rhona Mitra – The Number 23, Shooter, Holow Man}, into the hot zone to investigate the possibility of a cure. The landscape surrounding the safe zone is being run by gangs of vicous outsiders and warriors.

Thanks again for the dvd. I ended up really enjoying this one, but I’m not surprised since I’m a sucker for this type of action movie or any type of “doomsday”/dystopian/post-apocalyptic type of film. The climax was totally reminiscent of Mad Max. I thought that Sol’s gang of marauders was goofy as hell even though they seemed to be going for amoral scary mofos so I really appreciated that they balanced it out with Rhona Mitra’s character who was a cool & collected badass. It’s great seeing a woman playing lead in thsi type of movie.
This is definitely a fun popcorn flick!
