The Orphanage

Laura is one of the few movie kids who had a good life at an orphanage. Instead of being abused or having to plead for more gruel, she was nurtured and raised by a loving and caring staff. Now, as an adult, she’d like to see the long-abandoned building put to good use as a health center for disabled children. Laura and Carlos work to get the new center ready, as their seven-year-old son Simon rapidly adds to his stable of imaginary friends.
The more Simon speaks of these friends, the more Laura wonders if something deeper and darker is at play. On the day of the big health center opening, Simon goes missing. Desperate for her family to survive, Laura must delve into the orphanage’s history and the netherworld she discovers within.
